Apr 2020 - May 2020

This set explores a marriage between the art forms of writing and drawing.  Each piece began with free-flow journaling, which then inspired the central design.

Process

All pieces in this collection were created in Pokhara, Nepal during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

The artist began working outside as soon as lockdown restrictions relaxed enough for people to go for walks outdoors.

Each piece began with free-flow journaling in the inner ring of the mandala.  The artist then chose her favorite sentences from the inside and wrote them in the outer ring.

Subsequently, the artist drew a design at the center inspired by the writing.

The artist enjoys beginning her pieces in the morning, by the lakeside, and coloring/finishing her pieces in her guesthouse when the day gets warmer.

Note from the artist:

Thank you so, so much for viewing and supporting this collection.  These pieces are my most vulnerable yet.  I hope that they have touched you in some way, as they tap into the experiences we are all experiencing now as a globe.

May you be happy and healthy!  Keep creating, my friends.
