Creation
This collection was created in Pokhara, Nepal.
This series began with a teaching from a fellow mandala artist in Pokhara. The method he taught inspired the artist to explore mathematical means of creation. From this method, the "Inception" collection was born.
The Teacher:
Nui, an eccentric 70 year-old mandala artist from New Zealand, has been creating mandalas for eight years. He learned the technique used in this collection from observing a Tibetan thangka master. Nui graciously passed on this knowledge and thus opened the door to a new realm of creation.

The Method:
The essence of this technique boils down to precise math and geometry tools. The protractor is of utmost importance, as it allows one to mark out different degrees, as divisions of 360. The ruler then enables the artist to create a grid by connecting the dots created with the protractor across the circle. The artist then uses the compass to draw concentric circles of gradient increasing size. Once the grid is sketched, the artist may begin designing, adding more details as the spaces get larger.

TWIST in stages. Nui also taught the artist how to create the trifold yin-yang, and gifted the artist her first pack of glitter pens.
Huge thank you to Nui for his teachings.
He imparted knowledge that inspired this collection and that will continue to impact a myriad of future creations.
