"Lungs of the Earth" Original Mandala
Trees are the lungs of the earth, in many ways. Think of how our lungs function - oxygen in, carbon dioxide out. Then, think of how trees function - oxygen out, carbon dioxide in. We breathe the air gifted to us by trees, and the trees ‘breathe’ the air we return back. I made this piece outside on Earth Day, overlooking the rice fields, jungle, and rivers in and around the Nepali village I lived in. Symbols of infinite interconnection in the artwork reflect the peace I was feeling while creating that day.
